Optimizing Your Mycology Journey

Proper Storage and Handling

  1. Remove bags from shipping boxes immediately upon arrival.

  2. Place bags on a clean shelf for observation.

  3. Never store bags in sealed containers or attempt to grow in bathrooms, they are extremely dirty

Recommended Steps for Success

  1. Resting Period: Allow 7-10 days before using your supplies.

    • This applies whether you’re preparing or acquiring materials.

    • Resting ensures optimal sterility, crucial for successful cultivation.

    • During this time, verify the sterility of your liquid culture (LC) by testing a small sample on agar plates. Observe for any signs of contamination over the 7-10 days while the bags are stored.

  2. Quality Assurance:

    • At aPlusGrain, we prioritize product sterility.

    • If you notice any issues during the resting period:

      • Contact our team for assistance.

      • Send a picture of the problem and the unused injection port.

      • We’ll promptly address your concerns.

  3. Inoculation Process:

    • Once the resting period is complete and sterility is confirmed, prepare to inoculate.

    • Spray the injection port with 70% alcohol and let it dry for 30 seconds.

    • Inject up to 20 ml of liquid culture (LC) through the port.

Optimal Growing Conditions

Maintain these conditions in the room your bags are stored in

  • Temperature: 70-75°F (21-24°C)

  • Humidity: 40-60%

Note: Deviating from these conditions may affect colonization and fruiting rates. Never use spore syringes to grain, only liquid culture or agar

By following these guidelines, you’ll set yourself up for a successful mycology experience. Remember, proper care and attention to detail are key to achieving the best results in your cultivation journey.
