Cultivation Guide — Simple, Clean, and Effective

Step 1: Initial Setup

  1. Unbox grow bags immediately upon arrival.

  2. Gently loosen the gussets (pull sides apart) to allow proper air exchange through the filter.

  3. Place bags on a clean, open shelf in a dry room.

  4. Do not store in boxes, bins, or sealed containers.

  5. Allow bags to rest for 7–10 days before inoculation.

  6. During this time, verify your culture on agar.

Step 2: Inoculation (Precision Method)

  1. Sanitize the injection port with 70% isopropyl alcohol (fine mist preferred).

  2. Perform inoculation in a Still Air Box or in front of a flow hood when possible.

  3. Insert the needle at an angle, allowing liquid culture to run down the inner edge near the grain.

  4. Inject 2–10 mL of liquid culture per bag.

  5. Cover the injection site with micropore tape, sports tape, or a bandage.

  6. Flame-sterilize the needle between each bag.

  7. Keep bags upright with gussets loosened for airflow.

Step 3: Colonization

  1. Allow grain to colonize undisturbed.

  2. At 60–70% colonization, gently mix contents and flatten substrate.

  3. After full colonization, apply rubber bands around the base to prevent side pinning.

Step 4: Fruiting Conditions

  • Temperature: 70–75°F (21–24°C)

  • Humidity: 30–50% ambient

Guidelines:

  • Keep bags sealed during colonization (no misting or fanning).

  • Store in an open room with natural air exchange.

  • Avoid enclosed spaces such as cabinets, bins, or boxes.

  • A shelf or desk in a ventilated room is ideal.

Once pinning begins:

  1. Cut a 2–3 inch slit on the side opposite the filter.

  2. This will help initiate and support fruiting.

Step 5: Best Practices

  • Use bags within 30 days of purchase.

  • Store in a cool, clean place away from direct sunlight.

  • Use only liquid culture or agar (no spore syringes).

  • Maintain sterile technique at all times.

Important Notice

  • Always leave bags on a clean shelf for 7–10 days before inoculation.

  • Do not store bags in sealed or enclosed environments.

If any issue is observed before use:

  • Send a video showing the unused bag and injection port.

  • A free replacement will be provided.

Please Note:

  • Once a bag has been injected, refunds or replacements cannot be issued.

  • Orders canceled after processing will incur a 30% restocking fee on discounted orders over $100.
