Whole Oat Sterilized Hydrated Grain Bags

Here's how to make the most of your purchase:

1. Upon receiving bags, remove the rubber bands and unroll the bag. Our bags are pre-sealed before sterilizing, so they will arrive vacuum tight. 
2. Gently expand the gussets and prop the bag upright to allow air to flow through the filter for a minimum of 24 hours. This prepares the grain for inoculation by facilitating easy massaging.
3. While optional, it's advisable to store the bags for 5-7 days to confirm sterility, ensuring your chosen culture remains pristine. Perform an agar test during this period.
4. Massage the bags gently with your palms to loosen the grain.
5. Sterilize the injection port with an alcohol wipe and inject 2-10 cc/ml of liquid culture.
6. Between inoculations, flame sterilize the syringe using a butane torch or induction heater (avoid wiping with alcohol).
7. Store the bags in any room at 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit; avoid using heating mats or incubators. Expect visible growth within 7-14 days, depending on species and conditions.
8. Once 30% growth is evident, gently mix the bags to distribute and break apart the mycelium.
9. Refrain from relocating the bags until they're fully colonized.
10. Allow an additional 3 days post-100% colonization before spawning your bags to the desired substrate.
