Grow Your Own Mushrooms Easily at In a Substrate Fruiting Bag!
Our mushroom growing kits come in three sizes to fit your needs: small, medium, and large. Each kit includes grain spawn bags and substrate fruiting bags. The grain is where the mycelium starts to grow, and the substrate fruiting bags is where the mushrooms grow out.

Here's what's included in each kit:

    • Small Kit: 2 x 3 Pound Grain bags : 4 x 3 Pound Substrate Fruiting Bags
    • Medium Kit: 4 x 3 Pound Grain Bags : 8 x 3 Pound Substrate Fruiting Bags
    • Large Kit: 8 x 3 Pound Grain Bags : 16 x 3 Pound Substrate Fruiting Bags
  1.  How to:
      • First store your grain &  bags for 7-10 days to ensure sterility. Do this by removing them from the boxes, remove rubber bands, unroll bags, loosen gussets, and place on a clean shelf. Be sure to remove your fruiting bags from their boxes as well
      • During the wait period, Verify your liquid culture is also sterile on agar.
      • Once sterility has been verified, proceed to inoculating your grain bags. Do this by working behind a HEPA flow hood, or work in a still air box
  1. Preparing the Grain Bag

    1. Take a 3-pound grain bag and sanitize the outside with 70% alcohol.
    2. Using sanitized scissors, open both bags by cutting as close to the top seal as possible.
    3. Gently pour half of the grain contents from the grain bag into a 3-pound substrate fruiting bag.
    4. Ensure the two bags don't touch while pouring.
    5. Once half of the grain bag is emptied into the substrate bag, quickly close the grain bag with a bag clip to store for the next bag.

    Preparing the Fruiting Bag

    1. Take the fruiting bag and secure it shut as close to the top as possible using a rubber band, zip tie, or an impulse sealer.
    2. Gently mix all the contents without getting too much substrate on the bag walls.
    3. Lightly flatten the cake down with the sides of the bag.
    4. Wait for 7-10 days.

    Colonization and Fruiting

    1. Once the bag has hardened and the mycelium has started to colonize it well, add a rubber band approximately 2 inches below the substrate surface.
    2. Wait for the bag to be fully colonized. You should expect to see mushrooms growing at this point.
    3. The time frame can vary depending on the culture used, its aggressiveness, and the environment.
    4. Maintain an environment temperature of 72-75°F (22-24°C) and a normal humidity of around 50%.
