Whole Oat bags are one of the most popular choice of growers for many years. This robust grain looks beautiful in bags and produces a large volume of grain spawn!

1. PREPARE THE BAGS

• Remove the bags from the boxes immediately upon receiving them. Do not store bags in boxes long term. Do not store in refrigerators. Bags will arrive vacuum-tight as they were pre-sealed before sterilization.
• There will also at times be a few burst grains on the most outer parts of the bags, this is completely normal as we pre-seal all of our bags before sterilization, and the weak outer shell of both grains causes this. 
• If the bags are wrapped in a rubber bands, remove them.
• Unroll the bags, loosen gussets so that air can easily pass through the filter to the grain. 
• The injection port will be on the top side of the bag.  By injecting on the top side of the grain, fast colonization of the selected culture will be achieved

2. ALLOW AIR FLOW

• Ensure gussets are loosened and prop the bag upright.
• Let the bag sit for at least 6 hours to allow air to flow through the filter.
• This will make the bag easier to massage and loosen, improving air flow for faster colonization.

4. CONFIRM STERILITY (OPTIONAL)

• For best results, store the bags for 7-10 days to confirm sterility. Store bags at a room temperature of 70-75 Fahrenheit 
• During this time, perform an agar test to verify the culture is sterile.
